A little care goes a long way. Follow these tips to help your SCENTMERE candle burn safely, evenly, and beautifully.
Before Every Burn
Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch before lighting your candle.
A properly trimmed wick helps reduce soot, smoke, and an oversized flame. Remove any wick trimmings or debris from the wax before lighting.
The First Burn
The first burn helps set the candle’s burn pattern.
Allow the wax to melt evenly across most of the surface before extinguishing the candle. This may take approximately 2–3 hours, depending on the candle and room conditions.
Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
While Your Candle Is Burning
Always place your candle on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface.
Keep the candle away from:
Children and pets
Curtains, bedding, paper, and other flammable items
Fans, vents, open windows, and drafts
Areas where it could be knocked over
Never leave a burning candle unattended or move the candle while the wax is melted. The vessel may become hot during use.
Extinguishing Your Candle
Use a candle snuffer when possible, or gently blow out the flame.
Do not use water to extinguish the candle. Water can cause hot wax to splatter and may damage the glass.
Allow the wax to cool completely before trimming the wick, replacing the lid, or moving the candle.
Keep the Wick Centered
After extinguishing the flame, check that the wick remains upright and centered.
If the wick has shifted, carefully reposition it while the wax is still soft but no longer extremely hot. Do not touch melted wax with your hands.
When to Stop Burning
Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
Burning a candle with too little wax remaining may cause the container to overheat.
Candle Safety Reminders
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Never burn a candle while sleeping.
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Do not burn near flammable objects.
Never burn for more than four hours at one time.
Do not use the candle if the vessel is cracked, chipped, or damaged.
Allow the candle to cool completely between burns.
